The National Dance Company is very versatile. It can present concert of traditional African arrangements of such dances and items from the standard repertoire as well as original extended works. It supports and collaborates with visiting artists and Choreographers, for it is open to ideas and experiments that explore the potential of African dance forms.
In consonance with its aim of sharing the artistic heritage and potential of Africa with all nations, it has undertaken several international tours and has thrilled audiences at festivals like “Images of Africa” in Denmark, LONDON INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THEATRE, Expo ‘93 in Korea, and INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR ‘94 in Germany.
In 1995 between September and October, the Company scored a hat trick in an exercise in self-division. It divided itself into three to participate in international festival in INDONESIA - Art Summit Festival, Chicago - Dance Africa '95, and the U.K. - Africa '95 Festival. Immediately on arrival from the UK, the company participated in FIRST HARARE CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL in Zimbabwe.
The company has again received several standing ovations through their outstanding performances in the following countries: France, US, Denmark and Korea in between July and September 1996. The company also participated in African Choreographic Competition in Luanda - 1998, MASA ‘99 (MASA ‘99 (Market for African Performing Arts Festival) - Abidjan, Expo 2000 in Hanover - Germany.
In August 2002 the company divided itself into two to participate in the first Qatar Summer wonders - Mega Festival and Commonwealth Games Manchester - UK sponsors were Abasindi Dance Group - UK and General Tourism Authority - Qatar.
